Curator’s statement
Formentera is the smallest of Spain’s Balearic islands, just off the coast of Ibiza, and is only accessible via 30 minute ferry. Known for the most pristine beaches and oceanfront restaurants and beach clubs, most travelers come for the day. But the best way to experience the island is to stay for a few days, turn off your phone, rent a scooter and set out on a beach crawl.

Day 1: Arrive at Hotel
After a day of traveling, check into Gecko Hotel and Beach Club. Speak to the concierge about their Digital Detox Program, where you will hand over your phone to their team and pick a book out of their library to read during your stay.
Depending on when you arrive, take the afternoon to have a late lunch, lounge by the pool at one of their cabanas or take a paddle board or kayak and go out at sea.
Day 2: Morning Yoga & Beach Day
Wake up to attend the 9am yoga outdoors, followed by a leisurely breakfast overlooking the ocean. There is nothing better than sipping your morning coffee while watching the waves lap in.
The best way to explore the island and the many beaches is by scooter. Set off for the afternoon to explore the most secret beaches like Ses Platgetes, Calo Des Mort, Playa Illetes and La Savina. Marvel at the lighthouse at Cap de Barbaria, which sits at the cliff edge of Sa Talaïassa: the highest point on the island.
Make sure to stop at El Tiburon for an afternoon snack and drink while watching the superyachts roll in.
Before heading back to the hotel, stop at Kiosko 62’s to watch the sunset.
Day 3: Beach Day & Check Out
Check out time at Gecko is 12pm for a reason... Enjoy a morning walk along the wooden plank trail that takes you down Migjorn beach, attend another morning yoga or pilates class or just sit and read your book while you soak in the final hours before you head home or off to explore other parts of Spain.
