Day 1: Arrive in Milos
Rent a car/ATV: Whether you arrive to Milos by plane or ferry, you will want to rent your own mode of transportation to have complete freedom while exploring the island of Milos. There are many options for renting small cars or ATVs to utilize during your stay.
Once securing your vehicle and checking into your hotel, I recommend heading to Pollonia Beach for lunch where you can indulge in fresh caught fish or grilled souvlaki right by the water. After lunch, take a dip in the water or relax on the beach for the afternoon.
For a sunset dinner, head to the Klima fishing village. I recommend getting to Klima a little bit before your reservation to walk past the colorful boat house doors. Eat at the beautiful Astakas Klima Restaurant. This restaurant is located right on the water and offers great sunset views, delicious food including fresh caught fish.
Day 2: Beach hopping and sunset viewing
Spend the day traveling the island and hopping from beach to beach. Head over to the caves at Papafragas beach for cliff jumping and sunbathing on the rocks. The water here is a gorgeous mix of blues and greens, and was one of my favorite spots on the island.
Visiting Mandrakia, and eating lunch at Medusa, is a must. Be sure to try the fried calamari and fish souvlaki! On your way to Mandrakia, you may choose to stop and view the many other beaches that dot the extensive Milos coastline. One of Milos's most well known beaches is the expansive moonscapes of Sarakiniko. I recommend finding time to explore Sarakiniko at sunrise or sunset to avoid the masses of tourists wandering the rocks.
After a delicious lunch, check out the extensive Firiplaka Beach. This beach is the perfect spot for lounging and maybe enjoying a cocktail or an ice cream! Complete with straw palapas, comfortable chaise lounges (for rent), and even bean bag chairs, Firiplaka provides the full beach experience.
The Greek islands are known for their breathtaking views, especially magnificent sunsets. The go-to spot for sunset viewing on Milos is in the town of Plaka. Walk through Plaka and stop by the local stores selling jewelry, clothes, handmade crafts and souvenirs on your way to your sunset viewing spot. There are many bars such as Utopia Caffe and Fatses where you can grab a cool drink. Many bars offer takeaway cocktails (try an Aperol Spritz!) to bring to the Venetian Castle or the church of Panagia Korfitassa for the best sunset experience.
Day 3: Boat trip and Volcanic Beach
One of the best ways to experience Milos is by boat. A half-day boat trip is a great way to do this. There are many different options to see the island from the Aegean Sea. Ready to test out your captain skills? Rent a boat to explore on your own! Not quite ready to take on the sea solo? Book a group or private tour to view the Kleftiko caves. Spend the morning swimming in and out of the sparkling turquoise waters of the many caves. Be sure to check out one of the more unique and adventurous beaches - Tsigrado. From land, Tsigrado is only accessible by two ladders, but by boat you can visit the beach directly from the water.
After returning to land, make your way to Paleochori Beach and spend the afternoon at the luxurious Sirocco restaurant. Here you can relax in big, comfortable lounge chairs while being served delicious food and drinks by the lovely and friendly staff. A must while at Sirocco is ordering a dish that is cooked in a volcanic sand pit right on the beach. We watched our fish enter and exit the sand pit, and then filleted for us to enjoy at our chairs!
