My travel style

When I travel, I love to go with a very loose itinerary and wander – see new things, meet new people, eat and drink things I've never had before. I keep planned activities to a minimum so that I can be open to the new. To me, that is the real beauty of travel.

Favorite hotels

Beachfront property on a white sand island with tropical-themed villas.

Contemporary beachfront resort with huts and villas offering lagoon views.

Representative of the Belle Epoque, this hotel is located on the shores of the Geneva Lake.

Recently returned from:

  • Road-tripping around Morocco for 17 days. 

  • Watching luchador wrestling and dining at Michelin-starred restaurants in Mexico City. 

  • Taking surf lessons in Nicaragua.

  • Skiing at the base of the Matterhorn and visiting Christmas markets.

Dreaming of:

  • Hiking in Patagonia. 

  • Sunrise over the Taj Mahal. 

  • Eating my way through Oaxaca.

  • Riding the Trans-Mongolian Railway.

One thing I can't travel without...

Lip balm in each bag and each jacket I travel with.

Two truths, one lie:

  1. I crossed a Latin American border on foot overnight. 

  2. I was quarantined in a “COVID hotel" in Belize after I had a positive test. 

  3. I have seen the Northern Lights half a dozen times.
