Things to do in Tulum, Mexico
Rent bikes - The 25-minute bike ride from downtown Tulum to the beach zone is scenic and an eco-friendly mode of transport. Biking is the perfect way to visit the Tulum Ruins, beach clubs, downtown Tulum and more all while staying active.
Tulum Archaeological Zone - Visit the ruins at the Tulum Archeological site to get sweeping views of the ocean and learn about ancient history. Keep your eyes peeled for the semi-famous iguanas and other interesting wildlife.
Cenotes - Visiting the open-air cenote water caves is a must in Tulum. Either rent a car to drive around to a few, or you can go on a private tour to see some of the most famous Cenotes and spend an afternoon swimming.
Beach clubs - If you’re not staying at a private beach resort, hop around to beach clubs around the island and stay for the day. You can pay a food & beverage minimum to get access to their private beach and facilities for the entire day.
Visit downtown Tulum - Downtown Tulum offers a completely different feel than the beach town. See local culture in the downtown area and take advantage of delicious food and shops for a more off-the-beaten-path activity.
Yoga classes - Visit a local yoga studio for more rest and relaxation. One of my favorites is Studio Sol Yoga.
Places to eat & drink in Tulum, Mexico
Hartwood - This open-air restaurant is one of my favorites in Tulum. The chalkboard menu and fresh local ingredients make this place charming yet trendy.
Matcha Mama - This trendy spot is famous for its wood swings, smoothie bowls, and of course, matcha. A must-visit for the health-focused traveler.
Casa Jaguar - Another Tulum favorite, this rustic restaurant will give you a taste of the local cuisine while in a jungle-like environment.
Arca - From the elaborate presentation to the abundance of flavors, Arca is a top restaurant for many. Try some of the best ceviche in Tulum here.
Antojitos La Chiapaneca - If you’re in downtown Tulum, visit this spot to experience local tacos, tortas, and more.
Gitano - For more of a beach club experience, visit Gitano for delicious cocktails, fun music and all-around good vibes.
Posada Margherita - Charming Italian dining in this oceanfront spot, Posada Margherita is the perfect place to mix up your cuisine from the otherwise seafood-forward Tulum spots.
