Caribbean Getaway to Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands

The Baths: Arrive early in the day if you can, before all the cruise ships unload and crowd the area. The Baths are at the southwest tip of the island and are composed of a larger-than-life maze of boulders intermingled with turquoise water. For this adventure, you will want to wear shoes or sandals that you can get wet as you will be walking in and out of pools of water while climbing atop boulders. Weave your way through and enjoy surprise stunning vignettes as you round each turn.

Gorda Peak National Park: Hiking trails can be found at both Gorda Peak National Park or Copper Mine National Park. Each has beautiful views and offers some variety with both short and long hike options.

Day Trip to Tortola: The neighboring island, Tortola, is only about a 30-minute boat ride away. Locals and tourists go there all the time. It is a larger island and has more of the necessities you might need. It is a good idea to strategically plan this trip mid-vacation in case there is anything you may need for the remainder of your stay. Venture out and do some shopping for souvenirs and trinkets to bring home with you.

Snorkeling or Paddle Boarding: Hire an instructor to take you snorkeling or paddle boarding to explore the crystal-clear water with endless sea creatures below.

Rent a Catamaran or Charter a Yacht: Cruise the perimeter of the island to see surrounding sites such as Saba Rock, Bitter End Yacht Club and Oil Nut Bay. Stop in and explore another area of the island, or get dropped off on a private beach with your picnic lunch to relax and take a dip.

Resort Recreation and Relaxation: Spend some time at your resort. You could stay at the resort for most of your vacation and have a perfectly wonderful trip! You will likely have access to hiking trails, recreational opportunities, pools, spa services, delicious food and beautiful sandy beaches to relax and unwind. You may even want to take advantage of some of the excursion offerings such as a tour from a local or a fishing trip.

Day Trips

Tortola, Saba Rock, Bitter End Yacht Club, Oil Nut Bay, Necker Island and Moskito Island all make for great day trips!

CocoMaya: This is my personal favorite restaurant. I recommend this for an evening out if you like Asian and Latin Fusion flavors. The food, drinks and service are impeccable. Get there before it gets dark to grab their house sangria and an appetizer while you wait for a table. Wander down to the beach area to play some yard games or sit at the swing-up bar. There are plenty of perfect places to sit, wait and watch the daylight fade away as colors paint the sky. They even let you arrange a private beach dinner if you are celebrating a special occasion such as a birthday, honeymoon, or family gathering. It's no wonder this place stays so busy.

Hog Heaven: Grab some barbecue and something to sip on while enjoying one of the best bird's eye views of Mosquito Island, Necker Island and other areas around the North Sound.

Chez Bamboo: This restaurant is close to Little Dix Bay and is an easy dinner out if you do not want to venture out too far. There are a variety of food and drink options on the menu, so it will be easy to find something to enjoy.

Fischer’s Cove Restaurant: I like this restaurant for brunch. If you are looking for a place to eat with a beautiful view of the ocean, you will enjoy your time here.

Top of the Baths: This is a perfect place to stop for lunch after hiking around the baths. They have fresh seafood and beautiful views.
