What are the odds of having Western Sahara all to yourself? Meet a totally parallel universe: Planet Siwa. An oasis of sand dunes, salt lakes, natural springs and palm grove villages for all you can see.
As an Egyptian and a friend of the Adrére Amellal family, who has a great relationship with the owners, booking with me means generous perks and enjoying every meal in a show-stopping spot I saved for you where you can take in the views in the middle of the desert. Booking with me also means we can make your trip to Siwa an entire voyage through Egypt, with stays in iconic hotels in the capital and the country's north coast, and emblematic experiences along the Nile. Adrére Amellal
About Adrére Amellal
Adrére Amellal, meaning White Mountain in the Berber Language, has been referred to as heaven on Earth by multiple travel journalists and publications, and I don’t think they are overdoing it.
Created and developed by Mounir Neamatallah, one of Egypt’s most prominent environmentalists and Columbia University educated, Adrére Amellal is synonymous with luxury that’s easy on the Earth.
Built at the foot of the majestic White Mountain of the Egyptian Siwa Oasis, and using the same indigenous rocks and sand found in the White Mountain, Adrére Amellal combines luxury, authenticity and all your heart desires for some proper soul-care.
No two days at Adrére Amellal are the same. Staying at Adrére Amellal not only makes it comfortable to live in the desert without electricity but also quite luxurious because Bedouin hospitality is no joke.
Staying at Adrére Amellal
Wake up in the same bed that Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall slept in. Indulge in a farm-to-table lunch with no trace of industrial supply chains. Food at Adrére Amellal is where gastronomy meets traditions. It is a heaven for vegetarians and a feast for carnivores. Every meal we had at Adrére was more memorable than the other, and consistently exquisitely served by Bedouis in flowing white robes and turbans.
During the day, enjoy the naturally built pool, soak up the desert sun or hike the White Mountain for Mars-like views. In the evening, no one needs to be convinced of a Bedouin tea service by a sizzling sunset, the charm of dining by candlelight or the experience of a bedroom and bathroom illuminated by dozens of beeswax candles.
After the in-house Bedouin dinner, it gets so quiet that you begin to hear the stars. And when you get bored of the universe within Adrére Amellal, do not worry about activities to do. Siwa has plenty of options to suit every taste and every type of traveler, from the historical buff to the adventurous family and the romantic couple.
Activities at Adrére Amellal
The sand Safari in a 4x4 is the most adventurous one I have experienced in my life.
Sandboarding and surfing.
Swim in salt lakes and bathe in the hot spring where Cleopatra once bathed. I have been to Siwa multiple times, and every time I visit the salt lakes and hot springs, my experience only gets better with time.
Visit the old town, climb the Shali fortress and get into traditional shopping (think Bedouin carpets, bags, and dresses).
Watch the Sunset from Fatnas Island.
This is NOT an experience you get to live every day; bring it on your bucket list NOW and hurry up to book it!
A note from Malak
How to get there?
The only way to get to Siwa is by driving for nine hours (private car or driver) or hopping on a private jet (if you are a big group).
