During the day, enjoy the naturally built pool, soak up the desert sun or hike the White Mountain for Mars-like views. In the evening, no one needs to be convinced of a Bedouin tea service by a sizzling sunset, the charm of dining by candlelight or the experience of a bedroom and bathroom illuminated by dozens of beeswax candles.

• The sand Safari in a 4x4 is the most adventurous one I have experienced in my life.

• Sandboarding and surfing.

• Swim in salt lakes and bathe in the hot spring where Cleopatra once bathed. I have been to Siwa multiple times, and every time I visit the salt lakes and hot springs, my experience only gets better with time.

• Visit the old town, climb the Shali fortress and get into traditional shopping (think Bedouin carpets, bags, and dresses).

• Watch the Sunset from Fatnas Island.
