From recommending babymoons to empowering stay-at-home moms, Fora has been hot-off-the-press lately. One thing we can’t talk enough about? Our team of travel advisors get tons of questions about post-pandemic travel — from “how do I plan?” to “where should I go” to “how do I know if I’m ready?” Here are a few tokens of wisdom that our team has shared in the news.
Don’t be intimidated, but do do your homework
“Traveling during a pandemic feels a bit like skydiving and praying someone packed the parachute correctly,” said our co-founder Henley Vazquez, in an interview with Modern Mom Probs.
The good news? With a few extra crossed-T’s and dotted-I’s, you can leave for your trip worry-free.
“Essentially, you can do all of the same things you could before the pandemic, just with a few added steps of paperwork and vaccination proof,” Henley said in the Seattle Times.
Plan ahead
With summer travel planning already in full swing, it won’t hurt (and will likely save you a few headaches) to plan your trip several months in advance. We recommend tacking on a month or two of lead-time as you book accomodations and make other arrangements. Whether it’s an August getaway to Nantucket or a college visit road trip, it’s never too early to get ahead of reservations.
“Book soon to be sure you're not left without space,” Henley said in USA Today.
Another pro-tip: “Fly midweek instead of on the weekend to navigate around airport hassles.”
Looking for a last-minute getaway? Don’t fret – our network of travel advisors are always happy to help, and in fact, we’ve also seen more and more travelers booking last-minute trips (from staycations to getaways) when they find an open window that works for their schedule. Working with a travel advisor is a great way to get all the details squared away in confidence that you’ll have the best experience.
Consider starting small
A post-pandemic journey doesn’t have to be a bucket list trip — quite the contrary! In fact, a weekend in a nearby city can serve as a fun way to dip your toes into the proverbial travel pool, before deciding on an adventure further afield.
For a quick trip, a favorite city of ours is New Orleans: "NOLA offers a combination of food, culture, and music… plus it's an easy weekend getaway from many other cities," said Henley in conversation with Insider.com.
For sun-seekers, Florida is a perennial crowd-pleaser. Key West is a new favorite: “I’m thrilled to see the opening of the Kimpton Fitch Lodge in Key West,” said Henley in talks with The Points Guy. “There are fun beaches to visit, great fishing and the funky Key West vibe everyone loves, but with the fresh look of a new hotel with a load of personality that the destination has been lacking.”
