About

I am a traveler obsessed with airplanes, airports (mainly in Europe and Asia), cultural life and hotels with a distinctive architecture, as well as a genuine sense of the destinations where they are located. I have felt my whole life that I was a closeted travel advisor. I am always consulted on the travel plans of my friends and relatives, and I find a huge pleasure in getting involved in their decisions.

My travel style

As an airplane's aficionado, the first thing I do when a destination has been decided, is to select the right aircraft. The hotel's character and the cultural experiences are to be added to the itinerary as the following steps in the planning (and I do plan every detail). I love going to new places and getting ready to discover them, by reading as much as I can about them, in advance. I simply have to have a clear idea (present and history) about the destination. Never alone! I have been traveling for 20 years with my modernist architect and lighting designer spouse, and the very best travel companion on the planet.

  • Exploring Machu Picchu and Cusco with a local Quechua guide who was also a historian and anthropologist. 

  • Attending ABBA's Voyage in London. 

  • Journeying to Ilhabela, São Paulo, Brazil – my secret refuge. 

  • Visiting Block Island, RI over the summer.

Dreaming of:

  • Return to Bangkok, as many times as possible, to become a local.

  • Bike from the Noto Peninsula to Kyoto, Japan 

  • Begin a new year at Fernando de Noronha, Brazil. 

  • Cross from Moscow to Vladivostok in the Trans-Siberian Train (not now, of course).

One thing I can't travel without...

My iPad.

Two truths, one lie:

  1. I love the planning of the trip as much as the actual journey. 

  2. I love selecting the type of plane I will be flying and believe to know everything about the specific model. 

  3. I get bored at airports, especially those huge mega Airports like Doha, Hong Kong and Singapore.
