My travel style

The beauty of travel is in discovering context. Through exploring cuisine, arts, crafts, local habits and even industry, I try to broaden my perspective — or at least taste, see and hear amazing things along the way! For getting a sense of a place, I like to organize adventurous activities as well as slower-paced interludes. I might swim to a volcanic mud pool one day then sleep in late before a cooking class the next. That cooking class might lead to a second class and then an invitation to the small restaurant of the instructor’s friend where we end up sharing stories with the chef and other travelers. Great travel includes balancing time to rest, space to reflect and the arrival of an interesting notion. I enjoy hotels that blend intriguing design, well-considered amenities and impeccable customer service into an atmosphere that is both comforting and inspiring. I will seek out every cozy nook on a property. If a glass of champagne appears, excellent! A new idea from a spontaneous conversation, superb! As your travel advisor, I am your partner in connecting with insiders, savoring little-known treasures and getting behind the postcard. I can't wait to hear where you want to go!

Favorite hotels

Recently returned from:

  • Glamping in stormy-weather in Big Sur.

  • Tasting and learning in Paso Robles.

  • Hiking and dining in the Cinque Terre.

  • Cooking in Paris.

Dreaming of:

  • Another sail down the California coast.

  • Canal-barging in Europe.

  • Aurora Borealis.

  • Back to Liguria.

One thing I can't travel without...

A large, lightweight scarf.

Two truths, one lie:

  1. I was "reported" to the captain while flying over the Dolomites.

  2. I am related to Christina Ricci on my mother's side.

  3. I swam after an errant sailboat, rigged it and sailed it back to the beach.
