Luxury taste without an unlimited budget. My hotel choices have ranged from a nice place to sleep while not breaking the bank, to hip boutique hotels, to a luxurious splurge. It often depends how much down time I have planned to enjoy hotel amenities.

Favorite hotels

Hilton Waikoloa Village

On the Big Island’s Kona Coast, a sprawling beachfront playground with two distinctive towers and a mega watersports complex.

The Merrion Hotel Dublin

Located in the heart of the Dublin city center, The Merrion is the capital’s most luxurious five-star hotel offering exquisite comfort and elegance.

  • Ocean Edge Beach Resort in Cape Cod, Massachusetts for lazy beach days with the family.

  • Nashville, Tennessee to celebrate my mom’s 60th birthday – food, music and a girls getaway is always good for the soul.

  • Chicago, Illinois for another weekend revolving around food and family – plus the arts and architecture.

Dreaming of:

  • Lake Como, Italy.

  • Morocco.

  • Portugal.

  • Scotland.

One thing I can't travel without...

Itinerary, even if I don’t follow it to a T.
