Turks & Caicos is a very quiet island meant to encourage relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of our day-to-day lives. Outside of the low-level music playing from the pool deck, the casual crash of waves on the beach or the occasional bird chirping, you won't hear much ruckus. Escape to this island with family, friends or even for a romantic couples trip and you're sure to have a wonderful time.

Golf

If you are looking to keep up with your golf game or play a casual round on a beautiful course, hit up Royal Turks & Caicos Golf Course. This course offers club and cart rentals that can be included in your green fees. There is an option to play 9 or 18 holes with a multitude of time slots available. It's also nice that you get souvenir balls and tees to use during your round if you would like and then take home as souvenirs!

Day Boat Adventure to Iguana Island

There are plenty of boat tours offered by various companies on the island, so you really have your pick of the litter with this activity depending on what time and take-off destination fits you best. This a great activity for young couples, small or large group of friends or if your family really enjoys a good party! This activity does take quite a few hours, so be prepared for a day trip. Drinks, infamous rum punch and food are offered during the tour as you stop to snorkel in the ocean and visit Iguana Island.

Tour a Ship Wreck on Jet Skis

Similar to the day boat adventure, there are a multitude of companies that offer this service on the island. Pick the one that fits the best with your budget and schedule and be prepared to have a blast! Pro tip: Try to book the last time slot of the day because the crew members running the shifts will give you some extra time out on the jet skis before the put them away for the evening.

The Club Stays at in the City

Turks is not an island that offers abundant nightlife. There is the Casablanca Casino on the island across the street from a lounge that gets quite a bit of nightlife traffic called Aziza. There is also a pretty popular indoor/outdoor hookah bar Shisha that hosts live DJs and could be a good stop after dinner if you're not yet ready to turn in for the night.

Book a Rental Car

Unless you are planning on staying on-site for the entirety of your trip or relying on hotel transfer accommodations, it might be wise to rent a car for the duration of your stay. While the island itself isn't very large, it can take 15-20 minutes to get to the other side of the island depending on where you are staying or going. You will have the freedom to travel around as you please and explore more of the island on time schedules that work for you. They are fairly priced, offer a wide variety of vehicle sizes and the rental office is close by to the airport. Be prepared that the custom on this island is to drive on the left side of the road!

Infiniti Restaurant & Raw Bar: A light-hearted, upscale beachside restaurant. This location can be intimate, but is ultimately really great for big groups. The food is freshly prepared and portions are on the smaller side. One of the favorite dishes at the table had to be the veal. Heads up, the staff runs on island time here, so this is not the place to come if you're in a rush or wanting to grab a quick bite.

Indigo: Located inside the Wynmara Hotel, this restaurant is a crowd pleaser. The location is quietly set next to the pool deck with a quick walk to the beach if you choose to partake in that after dinner. It's ran by an Australian chef who named the establishment after one of his daughters and the menu reflects many hearty dishes inspired by his Australian roots. Everything we had here was absolutely amazing. The staff is beyond sweet and attentive. The wine and cocktail selection has something for everybody too. This was a much more intimate setting for our experience, but it is also welcoming for groups.

Coco Bistro: This white tablecloth restaurant is a Turks staple. It is quite iconic with its completely outdoor dining setting set amongst the lit up palm trees. It boasts a much more quiet atmosphere than both Infiniti and Indigo combined. The food here is absolutely phenomenal, ranging from the curry to the lobster spring rolls, truffle fries and pork. This a huge must visit when you are on the islands.

Private Chef Experience

There is an abundance of private chefs that offer in-home services on the island for single or multiple meals, morning to night. They can cater small to large groups (some up to 15-20 people) and allow for a wide range of price points. You can find these just by doing a simple Google search of "private chefs Turks & Caicos," but I've found the best response rate from Take a Chef and Caicos Cuisine. You are usually able to select the items that entice you the most or give the chefs free reigning. What was amazing about our chef from Caicos Cuisine was that he was able to cater to the one vegan guest we had in the group of 12. This experience is highly recommended for anyone that wants to dine like a celebrity and/or not have to leave the house for an evening.

While many of the more well-known restaurants are located within hotels, there are also plenty of local spots to try out as well. You can find these just as little stands on the side of the road or a walk-in casual spot in part of a strip-mall building.
