"Roma," just saying the eternal city's name excites my senses. The smell of fresh baked bread wafting through the narrow cobblestone streets. The tenor voice of an opera singing street performer filling your ears. The shop windows of world-renowned fashion houses beg for you to step inside. Taste the sweet strawberry gelato on your lips as you people-watch at majestic Trevi fountain, after purposely getting lost on your leisurely stroll from the Colosseum. Rome has so much to offer, but you can absolutely take in all of Rome's offerings in a few romantic days without feeling overwhelmed.

Things to do in Rome
Sights
On a sunny afternoon in Rome, Italy, I always enjoy a morning walk through the Villa Borghese. The Vatican, on the other hand, can be very overwhelming. To ensure you see all the important works of art, as well as being able to maximize your experience inside the museum, I advise going on a private or small group tour of the Vatican and/or St Peter's Basilica. Finally, do on a walking tour of the underground tunnels of the Colosseum.
Explore by night
Enjoy bar-hopping through the Trastevere neighborhood that has lots of cute restaurants and a locals only feel. If you'd rather dig deeper, delve into some spooky history at the Catacombs by being surrounded with centuries old human skeletons. Finally, unleash your inner Lizzie Mcguire and take fast paced thrilling Vespa tour by night, which is also a great way to see all the monuments and historical buildings lit up beautifully in the darkened night sky.
Other fun things to do
There's no better way to learn to make your favorite Italian dish than taking an afternoon or morning cooking class.
One of my all-time favorite ways to treat myself is by splurging on a new pair of shoes or a new handbag at one of the many high-end fashion houses located right next to the Spanish Steps.
Where to eat & drink in Rome
Armando Al Pantheon: This entire area is great for a late dinner as the sun sets but this restaurant is known for its traditional Roman cooking.
Marzapane: Come here for an elevated and exciting dinner. Be sure to ask for the chef's table experience. This restaurant is conveniently located near the Piazza Del Popolo.
Romané: Located just outside the Vatican, this is a great quick lunch spot for some of the city's best pizza by the slice.
44 Osteria Quarantaquattro: This spot is one of my personal favorites and it has the best gnocchi I've ever eaten.
