Curator’s statement
Sometimes, by chance and pure fate, destinations shape our feelings about travel and turn into special places in our hearts. San Juan is a perfect example of this type of destination, and has proven to be a great city for a solo adventure. The capital and the central city on the Caribbean island, San Juan is a true gem – no wonder it’s located on the Island of Enchantment. Venture out to Puerto Rico and explore its nooks and crannies solo or accompanied, either way you’re sure to have a blast. Don’t forget to have the local Medalla beer!

Things to do in San Juan, Puerto Rico
Explore Old San Juan
Start off with your landing destination – San Juan. Take some photos in the streets of Old San Juan. Caleta de las Monjas and La Bandera offer amazing backdrops. Take a stroll and explore the historic colonial district of San Juan as well as the San Felipe del Morro Castle. Enjoy time around the city and indulge in the local bites and drinks along the way.
Beach it
Visit Playa Torrecillas Pinones beach. Insider tip – there are no official parking lots, so if driving find a cute space to park tucked away on the sand. Spend a few hours enjoying the serene Caribbean waters and the sea breeze of the palms.
Go to Loiza
Take a drive to the town of Loiza and learn more about the African influenced traditions in Puerto Rico.
Bioluminescent excursion
Go on a midnight kayaking excursion to spot bioluminescent marine organisms. Fun fact – three of the world's five bioluminescent bays are in Puerto Rico. Ask me how to book this excursion!

Take a self guided hike through El Yunque rainforest and submerge yourself in the lush nature.
