Things to do in London
Sky Garden: This free, public space on the top of the walkie-talkie tower in the City of London offers breathtaking views day or night along with a bar, restaurant and live music in the evenings.
V&A Museum: One of many free museums in London, this one boasts some of the most famous collections outside the British Museum. Be sure to check out the theatre exhibit for a behind-the-scenes look at British theatre.
Holland Park: A lesser-known park in a west London borough of the same name, this park boasts beautiful walking trails, a flower garden and it is the only park to have wild peacocks.
Southbank Centre: One of the only remaining buildings of the post WWII Festival of Britain contains a unique skate park along the river Thames, an iconic yellow exterior stair tower and a hidden gem within the Royal Festival Hall— its elevator.
National Theatre: A publicly funded theatre along the south bank of the river Thames, this brutalist structure contains two performance spaces and plenty of public seating along with a quaint cafe.
Coal Drop Yards: This new market just north of Kings Cross Station is a modern reinterpretation of the historic storage warehouses that used to sit on the site.
Seven Dials: This neighborhood is home to many small restaurants, pubs and shops. As a somewhat lesser known destination, it isn't often crowded.
Somerset House: Come here in November and December for unforgettable ice skating and holiday shopping.
The Painted Room: Located at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, this intricately painted room has been host to feasts of royals and soldiers throughout its history.
