Curator’s statement
I have to say Mallorca is my favorite place on Earth that I will keep on going back to. There is so much to explore and so many breathtaking views on this island that it’s hard to stay away from it for too long. In the northeastern part of the island, you can find the coastal resort of Can Picafort. If you are looking for a place to recharge your batteries that the kids will also love, look no further. I highly recommend renting a boat and exploring the Alcúdia Bay, as there are so many areas you can get to only by water.

Things to do in Palma de Mallorca, Spain
Weekly market on Friday mornings at Can Picafort
Get a flavor of the Mediterranean life by visiting the weekly traditional market in Can Picafort. You can partake every Friday from 09:00 to 14:00 along Isaac Peral Street. There you can find fresh local fruit and vegetables, clothes, shoes and gifts. It’s a great place to snag your souvenirs.
Visit a Bodega
If you enjoy wine there is an excellent local vineyard located in the hills between Can Picafort and the rural town of Muro. The family-run Bodega Butxet offers wine tastings and tours of the bodega on request. There you can sample possibly the best Syrah in Mallorca and an award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon.
Charter a Boat
At Club Nautico Can Picafort you can charter a sailing boat, a motorboat, a fishing boat or even a canoe. The different boats have different requirements but we opted for a small motorboat which didn’t require a license or skipper. The Club also offers sailing lessons and watersports equipment to rent. Explore the Alcudia Bay or head north to the Bay of Pollensa and gauze upon the magnificent cliffs at Formentor.
Golf
Can Picafort has something to offer for everybody and the golf enthusiasts won’t be disappointed either. There are 6 top golf courses within 30 km of the coastal resort. Some picturesque views of Serra de Tramuntana can be captured at the Pollensa Golf course, which is a quite difficult 9-hole course, due to it being largely forested. I’d recommend heading to Canyamel Golf, where you can also indulge in the two-Michelin star restaurant VORO.
Go horseback riding along the beach
Only 10 km away from Can Picafort you can find Son Serra de Marina beach – a beautiful place to go horseback riding. Whether you are in the mood for riding on the beach at sunset or riding through the woods, Rancho Grande can arrange it for you. My toddler loved visiting the stables where you can also find farm animals and a playground.
Places to eat & drink in Palma de Mallorca, Spain
Stay along the beach and stroll the beachfront restaurants and shops, while taking unobstructed views of the beautiful sea and coastline.
Royal Beach Gastrosenses: Head over to Playa de Muro and indulge your senses at this trendy beach club.
L’Esguard: A must visit for exceptional cuisine. You’d probably be surprised to hear that the Michelin-starred chef Dr Miquel Sanchez Romera is a renowned neurologist and the tasting menu he has created is just as unique of an experience.
Can Gavella: Stop by to have a yummy paella while your feet are tucked in the sand. Enjoy their cocktails and live music.
Sa Cova in Can Picafort: Offers a delightful combination of beautiful views, great atmosphere and delicious food. Try the Tagliatelle with lobster.
