Curator’s statement
La Rioja, Spain is the only wine country making world-class Tempranillo. On top of amazing wine, the food, the people and the scenery are my favorite combination of any wine country. Wineries by day and tapas-hopping by night, Rioja, Spain lends itself to a thoroughly authentic wine country experience.

Day 3: Wine tasting in Alava & dinner
Artadi (Carretera de Logrono, Laguardia, Alava, 01300) - High quality wines and high quality hospitality. When I went, the matriarch made our group the most amazing lunch at this beautiful, modern winery.
Bodegas Bhilar (Calle de Lanciego, Elvillar, Alava) - Amazing boutique winery with a great story. The wife actually wrote a pretty steamy book about her and David meeting called Struggling Vines. A great vacation read.
Dinner at Txebiko Cachetero - 1 Michelin Star.
A note from Josie
Go at the end of June and participate in batalla del vino - a tradition in Rioja since the 6th century.
