Day 1: Welcome to Glasgow
Arrive at the Glasgow airport. Pick up your rental car and drive to St. Andrews. I recommend staying at the Fairmont St. Andrews or Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa. Take the afternoon to recover from a day of travel.
Day 2: Golf at Carnoustie
Best known by golfers as Carnasty, Carnoustie is one of the toughest and longest courses for the Open rota. This course is both world-ranked and a past Open Championship venue.
Day 3: Explore St. Andrews
Take the day off and go explore St. Andrews. Sightseeing suggestions for this day's journey include Stirling Castle, The National Wallace Monument or Edinburgh City. Stop at lunch at Hams Hame Pub & Grill, the Hamilton Grand building situated at the 18th Green of the world-famous Old Course.
Day 4: Golf at Kingsbarn
Considered the "Pebble Beach" course of St. Andrews, Kingsbarn Golf Links is a beautiful ocean side course with almost every hole having sweeping views of the North Sea. Kingsbarn co-hosts the annual Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on the European Tour which is played as a four day pro-am with each team consisting of one amateur and one professional. After the round, take in a tasting at Kingsbarns Distillery or explore the Kingdom of Fife and the little fishing villages along the East coast: Anstruther, Pittenweem, Crail and Largo.
Day 5: Golf at St. Andrews Old Course
This day is reserved for playing the Old Course, the home of golf and at the top of every golfer's bucket list. With limited availability each year to get to play this course you will want to start planning ASAP!
Day 6: Off to Turnberry and Troon
Check into the luxurious Trump Turnberry Resort or newly renovated Marine Hotel, overlooking the iconic Royal Troon Golf Course. Take the afternoon to recover from a day of travel.
Day 7: Golf at Ailsa Course
The Ailsa course at the Turnberry Resort is probably the most scenic Open Championship golf course. Overlooking the small island of Ailsa Craig in the Firth of Clyde, it has beautiful views across to the Mull of Kintyre and the Isle of Arran.
Day 8: Golf at Royal Troon Course
Home to The 152nd Open in 2024, Royal Troon, is world-ranked and has been the host 10 times of The Open Championships. On the return from golf, take the scenic A719 road for incredible photo opportunities.
Day 9: Return home
Time to go back home to reminisce on your new golf memories!
