USA travel tips

Several images may come to mind when you think of US travel: the buzz of NYC and its towering skyscrapers, or the glitz and glam of Hollywood alongside golden beaches. And while NYC and Los Angeles are some of the most popular US cities to visit, they’re certainly not the only places you can (or should) visit. Music lovers can kick up their boots in Austin or Nashville. History buffs can learn to their heart’s content in Boston, Philadelphia or Washington, DC. Sun chasers can flock to either coast for some of the best beaches – from Maui to Miami. Nature lovers can explore some of the most majestic National Parks, from towering redwoods in Sequoia to bubbling geysers in Yellowstone.

With 50 states, it’s understandable to be overwhelmed by the sheer number of options for US travel. If you already have a destination in mind, your Fora advisor can recommend the best hotel or resort for your needs. If you don’t know where you want to go yet, think about the type of experience you want to have, whether it’s based on your interests (food & wine, culture, wellness, adventure, etc.) or the type of destination (city, beach, road trip, etc). Once you have a better idea of the type of trip you want to take, your Fora advisor can make recommendations based on your travel style, preferences and budget.

Sounds like you want to relax during your US vacation – we like your style! Some of the best US beaches can be found dotting California, from the laid back sands of San Diego all the way up to Newport Beach, Santa Monica, Malibu and Santa Barbara. Looking for a taste of the tropics? Hawaii is a slice of paradise. Maui’s Ka’anapali beach is one of the best, with its powder white sands and crystalline waters. On the East Coast, South Beach in Miami, Florida is a non-stop party. If a beach vacation is on your US travel bucket list, your Fora advisor can recommend the best US resorts for your vacation.

If it’s your first time visiting the US, New York and California are great places to start. Not only are there plenty of things to see and do in each spot, you’ll also get a taste of America’s incredibly diverse culture. Beyond these two states, Hawaii is a tropical paradise, while Alaska is the last great frontier and great for wilderness explorers. Florida is always a popular US vacation destination for families, since it’s home to Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park and great beaches. Depending on your travel style and interests, your Fora advisor can recommend the best states and cities to visit on your US trip, whether it’s your first or fiftieth visit.

When it comes to US travel, there’s nothing like packing up the car (preferably with the top down), hitting the open road and embarking on the adventure of a lifetime. Road trips are one of the best ways to see multiple US cities in one trip. A road trip up the California coast along Pacific Coast Highway, from San Diego all the way to San Francisco, is one of the most scenic drives you can take. If natural wonders are what you’re after, a drive through Utah’s “Mighty 5” National Parks (including Zion and Arches) will leave you awestruck and inspired. One of the best road trips on the East Coast is a US tour of New England during the fall foliage. Then there’s the mother of all US roadtrips: driving across the country along Route 66 from Los Angeles to Chicago.
